Sha're's dead.

The last thing I expected when we followed Daniel from that purple candy floss tree planet was to walk in on his ultimate heartbreak.

Dropping to my knees, I lay a hand on his shoulder, turning him onto his back. "How ya doin,' Daniel?" Shit. Talk about your stupid questions.

His eyes track slowly across the ceiling of the tent, seeking the source of the inquiry. There's pain there, physical and emotional. The look swiftly transitions to puzzlement, his brows pulling together, when his eyes meet mine.

"Take it easy, buddy. We'll get you both home. I promise."

They project the same remorse I feel. We've never acted on the love we've confessed to each other, but somehow that does not absolve us of guilt.
